I had read the first book, Warprize as well as this second book in one day because the first book was good and I had nothing else to do.

It's going to be a short review because I believe that there are nothing much I can say from my review for the first book. The characters as well as the plot is about as cliched as it can be and it kind of disappointed me because the standard from the first book kind of fell.

There are no distinct high and lows for me throughout the book, regardless of the plague that's inflicting on Keir's army. Maybe because I felt more detached to the woes and throes of Xylara on this second book as compared to the first book. I just didn't feel connected enough. And maybe, it's just that there is a lack of a villain in the book, despite of some palpable tension in the book.

Anyways, the drama didn't grip me at all, and I found myself feeling bored and skipping through the pages. That, or Xylara's internal monologue kind of bores me to death.

Overall? 2.5 out of 5 stars, but I rounded it off to 3 for the characters that I still love.
