Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Well that was... expected plot I'd say?
The writing is good, as expected of Richelle Mead. However, I find the story and twists to be predictable, even when I'm not too familiar with Mead's Vampire world. I've read first few books in the series of Vampire Academy, and even those were years ago. So I don't really remember things about the world.
From the onset they arrive on Palm Springs, I've suspected things that were true in the end. I won't say much because it would spoil you guys, but it didn't take much thinking. Considering I was, kind of, skimming the pages of the book.
I've always found Richelle Mead's world of vampires as unique as compared to those other typical vampire books. But I'd have to say this pales in comparison to Vampire Academy. The romance spark was also wasn't that 'hot' or 'steamy'. In fact, I didn't see much romance steams at all until towards the end the book. Even that felt bland. Then again, I think Mead is trying not to focus on romance on this first book and that's why the pair's chemistry was lost on me.
3 out of 5 stars for me.
