The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Immortal Rules was such a joy to read. It was a constant adrenaline-pumping read. It makes you be on the edge of your seat.

Allie is such an amazing main character. She is strong, driven, and willing to survive. And I really can relate to her.

The whole dystopian idea in a vampire slash human slash slave world is original. When I thought the vampire realm couldn't be any fresher, Julie Kagawa came in.

Just a pet peeve of mine, though, I don't thing Sekemoto is a Japanese name. If it is, it is a very rare name because so far, I've only heard Sakemoto or Sakamoto. And I'm a bit disturbed by the fact that the author's part Japanese. (Judging by her Last name).

But oh well. Maybe it's just me. The name doesn't really have a lot impact in the book so I can let that go.

Back to the book. The plot is very driven and the world building is fresh and original. The writing style is not every bit annoying.

The characters are strong and reasonable. The romance is there and not ridiculous or maddeningly sick. It progresses and real.

I initially gave the book 4 stars but after few days of considerations, I changed my mind. 4.5 stars leaning towards 5 stars, though, not amongst my all-time-favourites.
