Everneath by Brodi Ashton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4.5 stars, leaning more towards 4 stars.
Everneath was... okay. Good but not blindingly awesome.
The reason is because after a few days I have finished the book, I have forgotten what the hell Everneath was about. Not forgetting in every bit of sense, but I forgot the main character's name, the initial start. I have a bad case of short term memory. It's useful for reviewing, though. I always remember my favourite books' characters.
Though, as I'm progressing along this review, I start to remember again.
I liked Cole more than Jack. I'm always a sucker for the bad-boy type *shrugs*.
The whole moving back in time and forward in the writing style (I forgot the literary term, forgive me) is fresh. Especially in the YA genre.
Although, I find Nikki is a bit too fragile for my taste. I feel bad for Jack and her best friend (sorry, can't remember her name here). Everyone sacrifices things for Nikki. But does she?
I hope she grows on the second book. I really do. For once to stop running and stop people from sacrificing themselves for her.
