Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I can't fucking believe I finally relented to the pressure of reading Fifty Shades of Grey despite my oath not to read this... thing.

(btw just a note imma review all three books in this review because they're just the same thing in my eyes.)

I blame my boredom.

Forgive my language. I was quite affected after reading all three of the books.

I knew from the very start when I read the summary of the book when it first came out and I was like "Nuh uh. Nothing good is ever gonna come from this." And I was right.

The book was filled with fucking scenes every few pages until the point I'm fed up with it. There's nothing sexy or turn-on-ish about it at all when it's practically in every page. And what the fuck were those sex scenes? They were disgusting and I cringe at the over-the-top-ness. And yes, my review has now become a writing filled with swearing nonsense. I don't care because this book is nonsense.

The plot of the book... what was the plot of the book again? Oh right, it's sexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsex.

Of course there would be no plot development, character development if every page you read is them getting horny and getting it on.

And don't start on the writing. It's horrible. I cringe every single time I read "Oh my!" "Shit. Shit. Shit." That is totally not the correct way of writing things. Any attempt to make things suspenseful is totally a failure. Especially on the third book where Ana was being beaten and losing her consciousness. What the fuck was that? Lots and lots and lots of dots dots dots that really loses the idea of making it dramatic.

And I can't believe how every time Ana sees Christian, she will not fail to note how breathtakingly gorgeous he is. I get it. But not too much please, no on every fucking meeting and sex!

Yes, I skimmed through this book because there's nothing much to read for the disturbing sex and there's definitely zero progression during it.

Indeed, Fifty Shades of Grey is a Fifty Shades of Fucked Up.

You get the idea. Don't.

ps. Please don't let your daughters read this. It'll make them have the wrong idea that..ugh. Just. Don't.
pps. Thank God I didn't continue the audiobook past the first chapter... *shudders* I was wise enough to know where that was going and decided to continue with the book instead.

  1. I read the first chapter and vowed never to read anymore. It's trash to me. This book sends all the wrong messages to women. Every review I see is a negative one. How she was ever published is beyond me. Someone over at Goodreads did a article on how many time certain phrases were said and it is astonishing how little she actually writes real sentences. 1000's of negative reviews can't be wrong just wish people would quit contributing to her sales. I am hardly ever negative about books but this can't even be deemed a book. Its ramblings of what someone thinks is a turn on.

    1. Yes. Exactly! I can't imagine what this book will make women think of the whole love like. It's seriously fucked up. I kind of lost hope of the publishing world when Fifty came out, tbh :< But alas, I think it's just this certain publisher that's not willing to take notice of quality and grammar.
