Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1)Angelfall by Susan Ee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Please don't kill me. No matter how much glowing reviews from the top reviewers of Goodreads, and how much I want to like it since, you know, they know their thing with reviewing. I just can't.

Angefall is much better than all the Angel-esque series I have read among the YA genre. It is more thought out, both on the world building, plot, as well as characters. The romance doesn't feel forced.

It's just that the main problem is that I can't seem to relate to the main character as much as I relate to Katniss Everdeen, Alina Starkov, Finnikin (yes, he's a guy, but I don't care. haha). There are some things inside the book that I feel so very out of the blue. I don't know what exactly. But it just doesn't sit well to me.

Maybe it's because of the sometimes the first person narrative from Penryn was just filled the majority of what she sees, and thinks, rather than what she feels.

The plot twist doesn't really surprise me. But that's just me since I have been reading lots of mangas with apocalypse-esque theme.

Overall is a very good read. It's just that though.

Actual rating is 3.5 stars.
