Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1)Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

There were so many wrong things happening at once in this book. Good God. I couldn't even finish the book. By halfway throughout the novel, I was already in tears. In tears of its sheer absurdity in both its Mary Sue main character and that horrible piece of writing.

Helen, speaks in simple basic sentences that make my eyes bleed. Hello, similes, somebody? Couldn't she use any metaphors or other literary devices? Her voice felt bland, and... primary school-ish. I mean come on, where is the whole rule about SHOW, DON'T TELL? Gosh, I feel like tearing at those pages, or pull my hair out of my head.

Don't even make me start on the so many plot holes, the lack of evilness of terror from the villain, or the mundane things Helen doing. OR EVEN HELEN HERSELF. Could she be more oblivious? Could she be more Mary Sue? Or stupid? Lucas? Pfft he's the least appealing to me because the lacklustre of the writing. There isn't an ounce of sympathy or admiration from me to him, or even Helen.

Their insta-love made me scoff. One page they were breathing on each others' necks and two pages later? They are holding hands. Swoon. Notice my sarcasm there.

The Deus-ex-Machina towards the end (the one that I noticed anyways, since I only skimmed through the last few pages, is ridiculously put. Surprise, surprise, bitches, my mom and my father were starcrossed lovers too! And oh my gosh, we might be cousins!

1 out of 5 stars. Painful.
